Blake Snell's latest rehab outing may have been his final one before rejoining the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Los Angeles Dodgers could soon welcome Blake Snell back to their starting rotation after the veteran left-hander turned in another impressive performance during his rehabilitation assignment.

Pitching for Single-A Ontario on Wednesday, Snell continued his recovery from elbow surgery by delivering four scoreless innings against Fresno. The outing represented another encouraging milestone as he works his way back from a procedure to remove loose bodies from his left elbow.

Based on his latest performance, the Dodgers may decide he is ready to return to the majors without making another rehab appearance.

Sharp command highlights dominant outing

Snell showed little rust throughout the start, allowing just one hit while overpowering opposing hitters with swing-and-miss stuff.

The two-time Cy Young Award winner struck out nine batters across four innings and filled the strike zone consistently, throwing 45 strikes among his 60 pitches.

After surrendering a single early in the first inning, Snell settled into a dominant rhythm. He retired the next 11 hitters he faced and showcased the type of command and pitch quality the Dodgers have been waiting to see throughout his recovery process.

The efficient outing also moved him closer to the workload expected of a major league starter.

Major-league return could come next

Los Angeles had initially planned to continue building Snell's pitch count toward roughly five innings or 75 pitches before activating him.

However, his latest outing may have changed that timeline. With the left-hander looking healthy and effective, the organization now has the option of bringing him back to the big league club rather than scheduling another minor-league assignment.

His return would provide a significant boost to a rotation that has recently dealt with multiple injury concerns.

Rotation help is on the horizon

The Dodgers have been forced to navigate several pitching absences in recent weeks.

Shohei Ohtani has been unavailable to pitch while managing injuries to his right biceps and left knee, leaving Los Angeles searching for additional rotation stability. Tyler Glasnow has also remained sidelined because of lower back spasms.

There is positive news on that front as well. Glasnow recently completed two innings of live batting practice and is expected to begin his own rehabilitation assignment in the near future.

If both Snell and Glasnow return as anticipated, the Dodgers could soon regain two experienced starters just as the club enters the final stretch of the regular season.

For a team with postseason aspirations, Snell's dominant rehab outing represents another encouraging sign that its rotation could soon be close to full strength.
