Once a postseason standout, this Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder now faces a roster squeeze.

Seeing as Alex Call was left off the Los Angeles Dodgers playoff rosters, it's safe to assume this team doesn't see as much value in him as they once did.

The 32-year-old hit .364 in the postseason a year ago, but his spot was quickly taken by top prospect Josue De Paula, and there are plenty more who can give him a run for his money.

Call doesn't become an unrestricted free agent until 2030, but that doesn't mean the Dodgers can't get out of his contract.

Granted, he only made $1.6 million this season; that's still money wasted if there's no spot for him on the roster.

The Minnesota native has been with three different teams since his MLB debut in 2022, and a fourth could be in his future, according to The Athletic's Fabian Ardaya and Katie Woo.

Ardaya, Woo expect Dodgers to move on from Call

Call's expected contract in 2027 would go up to $1.9 million, so while that's still not a lot of money to have on the books, why spend it if there are cheaper, younger players available?

Ardaya and Woo spoke about how Call was a trade candidate at the deadline and the fact that "he is a bit redundant on this roster."

That's not to say Call is a bad player, far from it. It just shows how much talent the Dodgers truly have. There are other teams in the league who would be lucky to have Call on their roster, and they could certainly have a chance to pull the trigger if he is indeed non-tendered by the Dodgers.

The two would later name Call as a potential trade candidate alongside Teoscar Hernandez. Seeing LA make a move or two in the offseason would be welcomed, even if the return isn't anything out of this world.

Most importantly, if teams know Call is an option to be non-tendered, then why should they give up anything noteworthy for him?

It remains to be seen exactly what'll happen with Call, but for now, all roads lead to him not being on this Dodgers roster in 2027.

Call was a 0.2 WAR player in 2026

When Ardaya and Woo talk about the Dodgers missing their mark on trading him at the deadline, this is what they're talking about.

Call was a 1.5 WAR player in 2025, and that matched his career high from 2024. Officially, the 0.2 he posted in '26 was the lowest of his career, and he's not exactly a power-hitting outfielder with his one home run and .655 OPS.
