The Los Angeles Dodgers have not been able to return to consistent offensive production.

After the Los Angeles Dodgers struggled in their 9-3 series-opening loss to the San Francisco Giants on Monday, manager Dave Roberts did not condemn what was another low-scoring outing for his team in their third-straight loss.

"Yeah, tonight was, you know, tonight was one of those nights where, you know, you know, you look at tonight separately," Roberts told the media. "We put double-digit hits up there, you know, we had a chance for a big inning with the bases loaded, nobody out, we ended up putting two runs on the board where, you know, you'd like to come out with a couple more.

"But, yeah, you know, it was good to see Max continue to do what he's been doing and see Teo have some good at-bats," Roberts added. "And, you know, Will threw in a couple hits today, which was good."

Over their losing streak, the Dodgers have failed to eclipse more than three runs. After hitting 6-for-32 with nine strikeouts and 2-for 29 with 10 strikeouts in a pair of 7-2 losses to the Atlanta Braves over the weekend, Los Angeles was more productive on Monday.

However, while the Dodgers demonstrated improvement, their 10 hits in 36 at-bats simply did not translate to enough runs on the board on Monday night.

"And so, you know, I just think that, you know, the effort, the focus was there," Roberts said. "I thought the fight was there and, you know, we're going to come out of it. It's frustrating while you're in it, but we just have too much talent and too much desire to, you know, to keep doing this for much longer.

"But, yeah, tonight is the one I thought that, you know, we had the pitching as far as the pen lined up and I felt we were going to, you know, break out and we had an opportunity to hit the pen," he added. "So it just didn't happen. But I still feel, you know, encouraged about some things tonight."

For Roberts and the Dodgers, there is an understanding that no team is immune to an offensive slump, and they are keeping their eye on the proverbial light at the end of the tunnel.

"I think it's more of a lot of history, just kind of knowing that, you know, you look at teams and you look at the teams that we've had, and every year we sort of go through it, and really every team goes through it," Roberts said. "And it's not fun when you're going through it, but you've just got to remain positive.

"You do," he added. "And I think that building on some wins and knowing that the guys are working, that it'll turn. And it always has. And so that's kind of what I'm hanging my hat on."
