Ninety games in, the Los Angeles Dodgers have yet to play past the ninth inning. The powerhouse club now sits on the cusp of shattering an all-time MLB record.
Ninety games into the 2026 MLB season, the Los Angeles Dodgers have yet to have a game go to extra innings.
According to David Vasegh of AM 570 LA Sports, they are now nine games away from breaking the all-time record.
Back in 2005, the Boston Red Sox went 98 games to begin the season without ever going past the ninth inning.
Here in 2026, the Dodgers have a chance to make history on Saturday, July 18.
With only seven games remaining before the All-Star break, this is a bit of history that will have to wait until the second half of the season, should they keep up at this pace.
Dodgers Record Through 90 Games: 59-31
On paper, this record is as good as it gets. Somehow, when diving into the advanced numbers, it's even more impressive. For a team that's won back-to-back World Series, it's unbelievable not only what the Dodgers are doing, but how they're doing it.
Through 90 games, the Dodgers have not had a game go into the 10th inning. The last time Los Angeles had a regular season game go into extra innings was on Wednesday, September 24, 2025. In that game, they went to Chase Field and defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks, 5-4, in 11 innings.
Last season, the Dodgers had four games go into extra innings in the second half of the season alone. In the first half, they had 11 games need more than just nine innings.
For what it's worth, two of those four were in their final four games of the first half, but what's even crazier is the Dodgers fourth game of the season in 2025 required 10 innings. Not only that, but they went into extras in back-to-back games on June 2-3 and extras were required in two out of three from May 20-23.
Dodgers Are 55-0 When Leading After 8 Innings This Season
When talking about the advanced numbers and how good they make this team look, Vassegh included this remarkable statistic in his post. He talked about the team's aspirations to break the all-time record for games to start a season without requiring extra innings.
When leading through 8.0 innings in 2026, the Dodgers have won all 55 of those games. Their bullpen is as solid as it gets, especially their late-inning options, and that should shine bright in pursuit of a third straight World Series Championship, something that hasn't been done since the New York Yankees did so from 1998-2000.
