The Los Angeles Dodgers pursue a historic 100th Independence Day victory against the San Diego Padres. Yoshinobu Yamamoto seeks to etch the franchise into baseball’s most prestigious holiday record books.

The Los Angeles Dodgers, once again, took care of business against the San Diego Padres, a team they've already beaten six times this season.

The Dodgers are one win away from a third straight series victory in the 2026 season against San Diego, but at the very least, this one will end in a split.

Regardless, game three is taking place on the Fourth of July and has some serious implications for the Dodgers.

In a fun wrinkle heading into LA's 90th game of the season, the Dodgers have a chance to secure their 100th all-time victory on July 4.

Dodgers Fourth of July Record: 99-94

According to StatMuse, the Dodgers are 99-44 all-time on the Fourth of July. Knowing this team has been around since before the 1900s, it's not hard to understand why they've played so many games on Independence Day.

Overall, the Chicago Cubs lead the way with 125 wins on this holiday. Should the Dodgers prevail, they have a chance to break the three-way tie they're currently in alongside the Boston Red Sox and Atlanta Braves.

In total, there are only five teams with 100-plus wins on the Fourth of July. Here today, the Dodgers have a chance to join a prestigious club and could have the sixth-best record, all-time, on July 4.

Currently, the only other teams ahead of the Dodgers are the Chicago White Sox (1-1-84), Philadelphia Phillies (106-107), Pittsburgh Pirates (111-110), Cincinnati Reds (111-96), and the aforementioned Cubs (125-100).

The Dodgers' Fourth of July opponent, the Padres, are just 3`1-24 all-time.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto vs. Wandy Peralta

Yamamoto will be the Dodgers game three starter as he looks to help the team make history. Obviously, this holiday doesn't mean nearly as much to the third-year Dodger as it would to others on the team, but that's not to say Yamamoto doesn't want to stay hot.

The Japanese native has picked up wins in five of his last six starts. He's had a decision in his last nine starts, and has gone 6-3 in that span.

San Diego looks to their 34-year-old lefty, Wandy Peralta, someone who's started just three games in 38 appearances this season. Throughout his 11-year big-league career, Peralta has made just five starts in 540 appearances.

This is clearly a bullpen game for the Padres, and that should give the Dodgers plenty of opportunities to pounce and move up the all-time Independence Day standings.
