With Opening Day less than a day away, the Los Angeles Dodgers put the finishing touches on their roster.
The Los Angeles Dodgers have completed all of their Spring Training games and now look ahead to Opening Day this Thursday.
But before that, the Dodgers were busy on the back burner, finalizing which of their players would begin the season on the injured list.
In total, seven players will begin the season on the Injured List for the Dodgers: Bobby Miller, Gavin Stone, Tommy Edman, Brusdar Graterol, Blake Snell, Brock Stewart and Landon Knack.
Edman lands on the 10-day IL [retroactive to March 22, 2026], Graterol lands on the 15-day IL [retroactive to March 22, 2026], and Miller lands on the 60-day IL [retroactive to March 22, 2026].
Also, Snell lands on the 15-day IL [retroactive to March 22, 2026], Stewart lands on the 15-day IL [retroactive to March 22, 2026], Stone lands on the 15-day IL [retroactive to March 22, 2026], and Knack lands on the 15-day IL [retroactive to March 22, 2026].
Along with the influx of players getting shelved, the Dodgers signed free agent right-hander Jake Cousins.
Cousins last pitched for the New York Yankees in 2024, logging a 2.37 ERA in 38 innings.
Unfortunately, he will not begin the season as he is recovering from Tommy John surgery and will not return until after the All-Star break.
Edman is the only non-pitcher in the group going on the IL. According to manager Dave Roberts, Edman should be back with the team in late May. Snell finds himself in the same boat as he is also expected to join Edman for a return.
Miller is the lone pitcher who will land on the 60-day IL. Miller had been dealing with shoulder trouble and made a notable step in his rehab earlier this month back at camp when he threw off a mound.
Granted, it was only 10 pitchers and, to a standing catcher, it is still progress nonetheless. The Dodgers decided last year to lead Miller down the reliever path.
Moving Miller to the Injured List also cleared a roster spot for Cousins.
The remaining arms land on the 15-day Injured List. Snell, Stone, Stewart, Graterol, and Knack are all dealing with shoulder-related injuries one way or another.
Along with Snell making his return in two months, Stone is also in line to make his return in the first half of the season. Stone was shut down from throwing shortly after making his first Spring start.
Although a scan showed only inflammation on his throwing shoulder, the Dodgers will work diligently to get Stone up again for the season.
