The Los Angeles Dodgers place All-Star Justin Wrobleski on the Injured List.
The Los Angeles Dodgers announced before their series finale against the Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday that they have placed southpaw Justin Wrobleski on the Injured List with left forearm inflammation.
In the corresponding move, Los Angeles has recalled right-hander Kyle Hurt.
Wrobleski, 26, is in the middle of his best season as a starter. Up to this point, he has an 11-5 record with an ERA of 3.56 in 126.1 innings pitched in 2026.
He earned himself a nod to represent the National League in the All-Star game with a 2.96 ERA this past July and struck out five in his two innings of work.
Despite the first half's success, Wrobleski has not been able to reciprocate that in the second half of the season. Before being placed on the IL, the southpaw was the losing pitcher on Saturday against the Brewers after he gave up a pair of two-run home runs in a 4-1 loss.
Following the loss, Wrobleski told Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic that he is "feeling as good as I can right now."
The number of 126.1 innings pitched for Wrobleski has been a minor concern due to fatigue. As steadily as he's reached the number start after start, the production seemed to be dampening as well.
Though the Dodgers and Wrobleski have both clarified that fatigue has no correlation, but the recent struggles have been due to poor pitch execution.
Once Wrobleski returns from the IL, he may slot in as an opener, per Dave Roberts via Ardaya, which was his primary role during the Dodgers 2025 World Series run.
For Hurt, his return to the Dodgers comes at a time when the bullpen is stretched out to its limit. With an eight-man rotation hard at work, the welcoming of Hurt can put just enough ease as the Dodgers begin a road trip against the Colorado Rockies on Monday.
Looking ahead, the Dodgers have multiple off days that could potentially reset the rotation. Following the two days off, the Dodgers expect to have Tyler Glasnow return to the mound after completing another rehab start earlier this week.
In the month of August, the Dodgers have won just five games and have secured one series win. After their series against Colorado, they will return home for a three-game weekend stint against the Pittsburgh Pirates before finishing off the month on the road against the Atlanta Braves and Detroit Tigers.
