Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts is leading the National League All-Star team again, and he is not taking it for granted.

The 2026 MLB All-Star game is taking place on Tuesday at 8 p.m. at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, and the Los Angeles Dodgers have five players taking the field.

Freddie Freeman, Max Muncy, Andy Pages, Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Justin Wrobleski are representing Los Angeles for the National League team, and Dodgers manager Dave Roberts is taking the reins for the second consecutive season as the manager for the NL team.

In a recent interview with MLB Network, Roberts emphasized his gratitude for the position he is in, and he also discussed the Dodgers’ season up to this point as they currently hold the best record in baseball.

"Actually, we got a little cloud coverage, so I'm doing all right, and this is gonna be fun," Roberts said. "You know, the Midsummer Classic, American League, National League, 250 years of our country.

"Just seeing the game's best, so it's gonna be a lot of fun," he added. "There's a lot of first-timers, and so for me making my way around the clubhouse, kind of congratulating these guys, has been great."

It is Roberts’ fifth time being the manager of the National League team. Beyond his 2025 and 2026 stints, Roberts also served in the position during the 2018, 2019 and 2021 seasons.

Roberts has had an illustrious career as a player and a manager, and it is something he does not take for granted.

"I think for me, honestly," Roberts said. "Is there's many kind of moments that I kind of look back, whether I'm driving up Vin Scully Avenue and saying, ‘I'm going to work,’ or I'm, you know, after the Anthem, and I look and I go, ‘I'm competing or leading the Dodgers,’ or winning World Series and things like that.

"But I think for me is, and one of the messages I'm going to say to our team, to the guys in the National League when I have my meeting tomorrow, is the game honors you," Roberts added. "And I think for me, I think trying to keep the humility and the respect for the game and trying to pay it forward is something that's always front of mind, and I think for me is I'm just very grateful to be sitting with you guys. "

While the Dodgers have the best record in baseball and were the first team to 60 wins this season, Roberts is fully aware that the team can play better, especially after being swept by the Arizona Diamondbacks  ahead of the break. To win their third-straight World Series title, it is going to take the best effort moving forward.

"If you would ask me about a week ago, I would have given us a solid A minus," Roberts said. "But we had a rough week. But again, no one's going to feel sorry for the Dodgers. And I think any manager, any coach, any player will still want for more and expect more from your ball club.

"So the break came at a perfect time," he added. "We've got five or six represented here in Philadelphia. But again, we got the best record, but we got a lot more important baseball to play. And this is going to be a good reset for us."
