The Los Angeles Dodgers signed first-round pick Bo Lowrance to an overslot $3 million bonus.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have officially signed first-round pick Bo Lowrance, agreeing to an overslot signing bonus worth $3 million, according to ESPN's Kiley McDaniel.

The 40th overall selection carried a slot value of $2,504,200, meaning the Dodgers went well above slot to secure the South Carolina prep third baseman.

Los Angeles entered the 2026 MLB Draft with a bonus pool of $3,951,900, making Lowrance's signing the organization's largest financial commitment of the class.

Lowrance entered the draft as one of the fastest-rising high school position players in the country.

According to MLB Pipeline, his advanced offensive approach and consistent production against elite showcase competition elevated his stock throughout the spring, with some evaluators believing he had the talent to come off the board even earlier.

The left-handed hitter is regarded as one of the more polished bats in the class.

MLB Pipeline notes that Lowrance possesses a smooth, repeatable swing and an approach geared toward making hard contact to all fields rather than selling out for power.

Despite standing 6-foot-5, he has shown an ability to consistently barrel quality pitching, with some comparing his offensive profile to that of Freddie Freeman because of his swing and all-fields approach.

While Lowrance has not yet fully tapped into his power, evaluators believe there is considerably more to come.

As he continues to add strength and adjusts his swing to elevate the baseball more consistently, MLB Pipeline projects him to develop into a hitter capable of producing around 25 home runs annually.

Defensively, Lowrance is expected to begin his professional career at third base.

His arm strength is considered sufficient for the position, though some scouts question whether his large frame will eventually lead to a move across the diamond. If that happens, first base is viewed as a natural long-term fit.

By committing an overslot bonus to Lowrance, the Dodgers demonstrated how highly they value his offensive upside.

Although the organization has consistently targeted athletic, high-upside talent in recent drafts, Lowrance gives Los Angeles another advanced left-handed bat with the potential to become an impact hitter as he progresses through the farm system.
