After enduring an uncharacteristic power outage, Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Kyle Tucker is finally punishing pitchers again.

Kyle Tucker entered last weekend’s series against the New York Mets in the middle of a 19-game home run drought and a significant slump. All of that seems to be in the past.

The veteran outfielder has rediscovered his power against the Mets’ pitching staff, homering in two of the three games to raise his season total to nine.

It was an encouraging development for a hitter who had been searching for more consistent power production over the past several weeks.

Despite the lengthy drought, Tucker has continued finding ways to contribute offensively.

He is hitting .239 with nine home runs, 51 RBIs, a .711 OPS, 56 runs scored, six stolen bases, 18 doubles, and two triples in 99 games this season.

Those numbers illustrate that while the power has not been at its usual level, Tucker has continued producing in several other areas of the game.

A tough road so far

Katie Woo from The Athletic recently highlighted just how unusual Tucker’s power outage had become.

Woo noted that 55 of Tucker’s 82 hits before Friday had been singles, while only seven had left the ballpark before this recent surge.

She also pointed out that Tucker has never finished a full season with fewer than 22 home runs, emphasizing how out of character this stretch had been for one of MLB’s most consistent power hitters.

“Tucker’s power had been zapped — of his 82 hits, 55 were singles and just seven were homers. Tucker has never hit fewer than 22 homers in a full season,” Woo wrote.

Tucker’s fortune is changing

Fortunately for Tucker, this weekend has provided signs that he may be turning the corner.

By homering in two of the last three games, he has begun showing the type of swing that has made him one of MLB’s most dangerous offensive players over the course of his career.

If that trend continues, opposing pitchers could once again find themselves dealing with one of MLB’s most complete hitters as the season enters its most important months.

Following his latest performance, Tucker indicated that he felt good overall and emphasized that his primary focus remains putting together quality at-bats.

That approach has often been one of the defining characteristics of his offensive success. And it could be an encouraging sign that his recent production is sustainable rather than simply a short-lived hot streak.

“Felt good overall,” Tucker said. “Just trying to have good at-bats and do more of that.”

For any lineup, having a hitter capable of changing a game with one swing can dramatically alter the offensive outlook. Tucker’s recent return to driving the baseball gives his team reason to believe more power could be on the way during the second half of the season.

Tucker’s potential

Tucker has established himself as one of MLB’s most complete players because of the balance he brings to every aspect of the game.

His offensive approach is built on patience, discipline, and a willingness to let the game come to him rather than forcing results.

He rarely allows prolonged struggles to alter his mindset, maintaining the same calm and composed demeanor regardless of recent outcomes.

Defensively, he provides reliability in the outfield with strong instincts and intelligent positioning. And his athleticism allows him to impact games in multiple ways beyond the batter’s box.

Teammates and coaches consistently praise his professionalism, preparation, and steady work habits, qualities that make him an important presence inside the clubhouse.

Even during difficult stretches, Tucker continues to trust his process, a trait that has helped him become one of the most respected and dependable players in MLB.

That consistency of approach is a major reason why many believe his best baseball is still ahead of him this season.
