Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Zyhir Hope's latest power surge has strengthened his standing as one of baseball's top prospects.
Every strong performance from Zyhir Hope adds another layer to one of the biggest decisions the Los Angeles Dodgers could face before the MLB Trade Deadline on August 3.
The 21-year-old outfielder continued his torrid stretch Saturday, launching two more home runs in Double-A Tulsa's loss to Frisco.
It marked the fourth multi-homer game of his season and the second time in less than a week that he left the yard twice, further solidifying himself as one of the hottest hitters in the minor leagues.
Hope finished the night with three hits, pushing his season home run total to 21 while continuing an offensive breakout that has elevated his national prospect profile.
A leap forward in his development
Hope has taken significant strides in nearly every aspect of his offensive game this season.
After struggling against left-handed pitching in 2025, he has transformed one of the biggest question marks in his profile into a strength. His production against southpaws has improved dramatically, complementing the power that has made him one of the most dangerous hitters in the Texas League.
The recent numbers have been even more impressive.
Since the calendar turned to July, Hope has been one of the hottest hitters in Double-A, consistently driving the ball with authority while producing in the middle of Tulsa's lineup.
His overall body of work reflects that growth. Along with 21 home runs, Hope ranks among the organizational leaders in hits and RBIs, demonstrating that his development has extended well beyond raw power.
A valuable asset ahead of the trade deadline
The Dodgers enter this year's trade deadline in a much different position than many contenders.
With one of the deepest rosters in baseball, Los Angeles is not widely expected to overhaul its roster before August 3. Instead, the club is likely to follow a strategy similar to last season, targeting specific upgrades rather than making multiple splash moves.
However, one name that could change that equation is Tarik Skubal.
If the Detroit Tigers ultimately make the reigning American League Cy Young Award winner available, the Dodgers are expected to be among the clubs capable of assembling a legitimate trade package.
With Shohei Ohtani continuing to manage a knee issue while gradually building back as a pitcher, adding another frontline starter could become an even greater priority as Los Angeles looks toward October.
Should negotiations for a pitcher of Skubal's caliber materialize, Hope could become one of the prospects rival teams ask about first.
While the Dodgers would undoubtedly prefer to keep one of the top outfield prospects in baseball, acquiring an established ace typically requires parting with elite young talent.
Thanks to one of baseball's deepest farm systems, Los Angeles has the prospect capital to pursue a blockbuster without completely emptying its pipeline.
Whether Hope ultimately remains part of the organization's future or becomes the centerpiece of a major trade, his breakout 2026 season has significantly increased his value at exactly the right time.
