Tarik Skubal’s dominant start against the Detroit Tigers, along with Freddie Freeman and Miguel Rojas's clutch hits, ended the Los Angeles Dodgers three-game losing streak.

For the first time since Aug. 23, the Los Angeles Dodgers have won a game.

That may not seem like a long time, but the Dodgers are 81-54 for a reason.

They hadn't lost three in a row since their well-documented seven-game losing streak from July 31 to Aug. 7, and they weren't about to let that happen again.

In Tarik Skubal's first career start against the Detroit Tigers, he threw six innings of one-run baseball, but somehow, it wasn't enough to get him the win.

Regardless, the Dodgers prevailed, 2-1, in a night that saw Evan Phillips improve to 2-2 on the year thanks to some late offense from LA.

Skubal set the Dodgers up for success

On a night where he didn't walk a single batter, the former Tigers ace threw 83 pitches, 56 of which were for strikes against his former team.

Skubal allowed four hits in his six innings of work, and the lone run to score against him came in the fifth inning.

Somehow, that put the Dodgers in a 1-0 deficit, but they were able to score a run in the sixth and another in the eighth inning to ensure a narrow one-run victory.

Remember, this is a Tigers team that has now fallen to 62-72. While they aren't out of the postseason race entirely, it would've been a major wake-up call had the Dodgers dropped this game. Thankfully, they were able to outhit the Tigers, 9-5, and got on the board when they needed to.

Freddie Freeman and Miguel Rojas were the heroes

The two Dodgers to drive in runs in the series opener were Freddie Freeman and Miguel Rojas, but most impressively, both players did so with two outs.

The Dodgers stranded 15 baserunners in this contest, but Freeman and Rojas delivered two timely hits with runners in scoring position that put the Dodgers' mini skid to an end.

Rojas came into the game in the sixth inning and delivered a timely pinch-hit RBI single, something manager Dave Roberts knew he was capable of, as that's exactly why he was called upon in that spot.

Fast forward to the top of the eighth inning, a single, sacrifice bunt, and groundout set up Freeman's RBI single, which drove in Teoscar Hernandez.

It may not have been a blowout win, or one that came with a ton of flashy runs, but when it came down to business, the Dodgers showed up, and that's all that matters.
