Monday night will be remembered for a long time by San Francisco Giants manager Tony Vitello.
The Giants were able to score a 3-2 win over the San Diego Padres. Monday night's win is the first one in Vitello's MLB managerial career.
Harrison Bader hit a solo home run for San Francisco in the top of the third inning. Patrick Bailey connected for an RBI single in the fourth inning, which put the Giants up 2-0 at that moment.
Casey Schmitt then drove home Jung Hoo Lee on a single to left. The Giants were up 3-0 and had starting pitcher Landen Roupp rocking and rolling all night long.
Roupp worked six innings, giving up two hits, no earned runs, and struck out seven Padres. San Francisco left six runners on base, so there were more scoring opportunities on Monday night.
The series picks up again on Tuesday night before a Wednesday afternoon game.
