As the San Francisco Giants are going to spring training with Tony Vitello as the team's rookie manager, Vitello needs to start doing his homework.

Actually, Vitello should have been "hitting the books" already.

There's no reason for Vitello to not come into spring training without some semblance of knowledge about his roster.

Giants fans must be aware that Vitello has never managed at the MLB level.

This is a whole new ballgame for him.

That learning curve just might be steep.
