While some San Francisco Giants fans might have held out a little hope that pitcher Justin Verlander was coming back to the San Francisco Bay area, well, he decided to go back home.
That is, to his baseball home, where everything started for him.
On Tuesday, Verlander signed a one-year contract with the Detroit Tigers.
With him going back to Detroit, it might be a sign that Verlander is going to take a lap this season and call it a career. That's not definite, of course, and Verlander might go one more year.
But he just signed for one season.
Verlander's next stop after he wraps up his career? A place in the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, N.Y.
