Following a loss in the series opener against the Diamondbacks, the Giants will look to bounce back and regain the third seed in the National League West. On the mound for the Diamondbacks will be Eduardo Rodriguez, who has eight wins, eight losses with an earned run average of 4.98, while adding 130 strikeouts on the season.
Here is who you should target against Rodriguez:
Third Baseman Matt Chapman ($4,200):
Chapman seems to have the most success on the Giants against Rodriguez, batting .381 on average, garnering eight hits, four of which were doubles, one home-run, five runs batted in, while drawing two walks, in 21 at-bats. In the past 12 games, he has had 13 hits, three home-runs, seven runs batted in, and batting .310 on average, while drawing eight walks. Although Chapman has a high price tag, he was able to get one hit, one run, and drew a walk when the Giants faced Rodriguez last week. Back in May, Chapman was able to get two hits and one run against the Diamondbacks with Rodriguez on the mound. He is the best option to target for the Giants on Tuesday.
Second Baseman Casey Schmitt ($3,300):
Schmitt is the best value pick for Tuesday's bout against Rodriguez. Over the past 11 games, Schmitt garnered 10 hits, two home-runs, and six runs batted in. He has faced Rodriguez three times thus far and was able to get two hits, one home-run, one run batted in, and drew a walk. For that price tag, Schmitt should be on daily fantasy players' radar for Tuesday's slate.
Here is who you should avoid against Rodriguez:
Shortstop Willy Adames ($4,100):
Despite having the advantage as a right-handed batter against a left-handed pitcher, Adames has faced Rodriguez 15 times, drawing two walks, while striking out six times, and recording no hits or runs batted in. When Adames faced the Diamondbacks in San Francisco last week, with Rodriguez on the mound, he finished the game with three at-bats, no hits, and drew a walk. This season, Adames has a higher batting average against right-handed pitchers than left-handed pitchers, and all signs indicate fading Adames on Tuesday.
Jung Hoo Lee ($3,600):
Lee is facing a left-handed pitcher, and last time he faced Rodriguez, he went 0-for-4 while recording one run batted in. That was the first time he faced Rodriguez, but throughout this season, he has a .248 batting average against left-handed pitchers compared to a .271 batting average against right-handed pitchers. Assuming Rodriguez six innings, it's safe to fade Lee on Tuesday.
