The San Francisco Giants defeated the Diamondbacks on Wednesday, avoiding the sweep. They will head to Los Angeles for a four-game series against the Dodgers starting on Thursday. Dodgers ace Yoshinobu Yamamoto will be on the mound against Logan Webb. Historically, Yamamoto has dominated against the Giants. In 66 at-bats, the current Giants roster has only been able to muster 10 hits, two home-runs, and six runs batted in.
Here is who you should target from the Giants:
Catcher Patrick Bailey ($2,700):
Bailey is one of the few batters who has had some success against Yamamoto, going 1-for-4 in the past. It's a small sample size; however, as a switch-hitter, it gives Bailey the advantage especially against a bullpen that has been struggling lately. The last time Yamamoto pitched against the Dodgers, he pitched for seven innings, and then the bullpen came in. The game went to 10 innings, and ended with a grand slam from Bailey. At that price tag, it's worth taking Bailey in this matchup.
Here is who you should avoid from the Giants:
Third Baseman Matt Chapman ($4,200):
Chapman has gone 0-for-8 against Yamamoto, striking out five times. Especially at that price tag, Chapman should be avoided on Thursday due to the matchup not being in his favor. In the month of September, Chapman has gone 13-for-49, garnering three home-runs and eight runs batted in. However, in the Dodgers vs. Giants game that took place last weekend in San Francisco, Chapman went 0-for-4, while striking out twice. Chapman should be avoided in DFS for Thursday's slate.
Outfielder Heliot Ramos ($3,800):
Ramos has gone 2-for-11 against Yamamoto. In addition to that, in September, Ramos is averaging .175, going 10-for-57, and in the last matchup against the Dodgers, where Yamamoto was the starting pitcher, he went 0-for-4 and struck out twice. Ramos should not be on the radar for Thursday's slate.
Starting Pitcher Logan Webb ($9,400):
Webb faced the Dodgers in his last outing, where he gave up 10 hits, six earned runs, striking out five, while walking two batters. Historically, Webb has struggled against the Dodgers. This season, in three games against the Dodgers, despite his two-win, one-loss record, he has a 7.71 earned run average, giving up 14 earned runs, which is around 4.6 earned runs on average. He has a higher ERA on the road than at home, and for those reasons, he should be avoided in DFS lineups for Thursday's slate.
