After dropping the series opener against the Dodgers, the Giants will have Robbie Ray on the mound for Friday's bout, against Clayton Kershaw, who will be pitching his final regular season home game of his career.
Here is who to target from the Giants:
Third Baseman Matt Chapman ($4,000):
Chapman has the most success on the Giants against Clayton Kershaw, going 3-for-8, drawing two walks, and having one run batted in. Chapman was able to draw two walks against Dodgers ace Yoshinobu Yamamoto on Thursday and has produced a .255 batting average thus far in the month of September. The last time Kershaw pitched against the Giants, Chapman was able to go 2-for-4, with two runs and one run batted in against Kershaw and the Dodgers' bullpen. He has a higher batting average on the road (.254) than at home (.217), so taking all of that into consideration, along with the friendly price tag, Chapman should be on the radar for daily fantasy players in Friday's slate.
Shortstop Willy Adames ($4,100):
Adames has also seen some success against Kershaw, going 5-for-19, with one run batted in. Surprisingly, he has the second-highest batting average on the Giants against Kershaw at .263. Given his price tag for Friday's slate, he is worth a shot because the last time the Giants faced off against Kershaw, Adames was able to muster two hits, one run, and one run batted in. He could be a value pick in Friday's slate.
Catcher Patrick Bailey ($2,800):
The last time Bailey faced Kershaw, he was able to garner a hit, while adding a walk and two runs batted in. Historically, Bailey has just gone 1-for-8 against Kershaw; however, he has dominated the Dodgers' bullpen. Thus far, he has gone 7-for-21, with a .333 batting average against the Dodgers this season, adding a walk-off grand slam to the mix. At that price tag, Bailey is a low-risk, high-reward option in Friday's slate.
Here is who to avoid from the Giants:
First Baseman Rafael Devers ($5,200):
Devers' price tag is too high for various reasons, one of them being this matchup against Kershaw. He has struck out more times (3) than he has had hits (1) against Kershaw. This season, Devers has gone 1-for-22 against the Dodgers, batting just 0.45 on average. That is not a typo. For those reasons, Devers should be avoided in DFS lineups for Friday's slate.
