Tyler Mahle delivered a bounce-back outing as the San Francisco Giants’ pitching staff combined for a dominant shutout victory.

For the San Francisco Giants, Tyler Mahle took the mound in the series finale against the Philadelphia Phillies and delivered exactly the kind of performance the club needed.

After a difficult outing on April 3 against the New York Mets — where he allowed five runs over five innings — Mahle responded with one of his best starts of the season. It led the Giants to a 5-0 victory over the Mets at Citi Field on Wednesday.

The right-hander worked 5 2/3 innings, allowing just three hits while striking out six and issuing four walks. While command remains an area for improvement, Mahle effectively limited damage and kept Philadelphia off the scoreboard.

Despite his efforts, he did not factor into the decision as the Giants’ offense had yet to break through when he exited the game.

Pitching Staff Sets the Tone

For the second straight game, the Giants received outstanding production from both their starter and bullpen. Following Tuesday’s shutout win, the pitching staff once again combined to silence the Phillies’ lineup.

Out of the bullpen, Matt Gage earned the win with a solid relief appearance. Blake Tidwell, Caleb Kilian, and Erik Miller each contributed, with Miller recording the final outs to secure the shutout. Altogether, it marked another encouraging performance for a staff that had struggled in recent weeks.

Offense Breaks Through Late

Offensively, the Giants were held in check early by Phillies starter Aaron Nola, who kept the lineup quiet through the first five innings. However, the breakthrough came in the sixth inning when Rafael Devers launched a three-run home run to give San Francisco a commanding lead.

The Giants added further insurance in the eighth inning, providing more than enough support for their pitching staff to close out the victory.

Notable Performances

Willy Adames set the tone at the top of the lineup, going 2-for-4 in the leadoff spot. Luis Arraez also contributed with a perfect day at the plate, going 2-for-2 with a triple and a walk, continuing to provide consistency offensively.

Looking Ahead

With the win, the Giants secured back-to-back shutout victories over Philadelphia and will enjoy an off day on Thursday. They return to action Friday to begin a nine-game road trip, starting with a matchup against the Baltimore Orioles, where Landen Roupp is expected to take the mound.
