Robbie Ray’s dominant outing, paired with Daniel Susac’s breakout night, powered the Giants' win.
The Giants turned to Robbie Ray in their second matchup against the Philadelphia Phillies, and the left-hander delivered a steady, controlled outing. Ray worked five innings, allowing just three hits while striking out seven.
Though he issued three walks, he consistently limited hard contact and kept Philadelphia off the scoreboard. Ray’s ability to miss bats in key moments helped him navigate traffic, and his outing provided a strong foundation for the Giants to build on.
Giants Grind Against Sánchez
Opposing starter Cristopher Sánchez was effective in his own right, turning in 6 2/3 innings while allowing two earned runs and striking out six. While the strikeout numbers reflected his swing-and-miss ability, the Giants consistently put the ball in play, tallying 11 hits against the left-hander.
That steady offensive pressure ultimately paid off, as San Francisco was able to string together productive at-bats rather than relying solely on power.
Top of the Order Produces
The Giants’ lineup saw key contributions from multiple spots, beginning with Willy Adames at the top. Adames set the tone offensively, going 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and consistently putting himself in scoring position.
Behind him, Matt Chapman continued his strong start, collecting three hits and driving in a run from the two-hole. Luis Arraez also chipped in with two RBIs, further highlighting the lineup’s ability to capitalize on opportunities.
Susac Sparks Conversation Behind the Plate
Perhaps the most impactful performance of the night came from Daniel Susac. The young catcher turned in a 3-for-4 performance, including a two-RBI triple, and was a central figure in the Giants’ offensive breakout.
Susac’s continued production is beginning to raise questions about playing time behind the plate, particularly as Patrick Bailey looks to find his rhythm offensively. While Bailey remains a key defensive presence, Susac is making a strong case for increased opportunities with the bat.
Bullpen Finishes the Job
Following Ray’s outing, the Giants bullpen maintained control. Ryan Walker provided 1 1/3 innings of relief, allowing just a walk while striking out one and preserving the shutout.
Keaton Winn handled the final outs, efficiently closing the door to secure the 6-0 victory.
