The San Francisco Giants continued to receive strong offensive contributions from depth players in Saturday’s split-squad matchup against the Arizona Diamondbacks, earning a 7–4 victory in Cactus League action.
Outfielder Will Brennan once again stood out at the plate, continuing an impressive spring stretch.
Brennan finished the afternoon 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, further boosting his already strong spring numbers.
Through his first 17 at-bats in camp, Brennan has produced a .471 batting average, making a compelling case for a role on the roster.
The outfielder signed a one-year major-league deal earlier in the offseason and has shown consistent contact ability throughout camp.
While he is not currently projected as an everyday starter once the regular season begins, Brennan could factor into a left-field platoon alongside Heliot Ramos, giving the club flexibility against different pitching matchups.
Catcher Jesús Rodríguez also enjoyed a standout offensive performance. Starting behind the plate, Rodríguez went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs, delivering several key hits that helped fuel the Giants’ offense.
Although Rodríguez impressed in this outing, the competition for the backup catcher role remains crowded.
Daniel Susac is widely viewed as a leading candidate to secure the reserve spot behind the starter once Opening Day arrives.
Still, Rodríguez’s performance keeps his name in consideration as camp continues.
On the pitching side, veteran right-hander Michael Fulmer turned in one of the most effective outings of the day out of the bullpen.
Fulmer tossed two innings, allowing one hit and one earned run while striking out three batters.
The lone blemish came on a home run, but otherwise the veteran displayed sharp command and swing-and-miss stuff.
The former American League Rookie of the Year is currently in camp on a minor-league deal, yet his experience and leadership have already drawn praise from members of the coaching staff.
His presence has also been valuable for the organization’s younger pitchers, making him an intriguing candidate for a bullpen role if he continues to pitch well.
Left-hander Nick Margevicius also contributed a solid multi-inning performance out of the bullpen. Margevicius covered three innings, allowing three hits and one earned run while striking out two hitters.
While his spring ERA sits at 5.63, the ability to work multiple innings could make him a useful option as a long reliever.
With previous major league experience on his résumé, Margevicius remains a viable roster candidate as the Giants continue evaluating bullpen depth.
With the win, the Giants improved their momentum in Cactus League play.
The club will return to action Sunday afternoon when they face the Chicago Cubs at 4:05 p.m. ET as Spring Training continues to ramp up.
