Giants' Devers Linked to 27-Time World Series Champions

A proposed blockbuster trade could send the San Francisco Giants slugger to The Bronx for a pair of pitchers.

As crazy as the idea is, should the New York Yankees indeed be done with Giancarlo Stanton, Rafael Devers could be the next man up.

Devers has had a wild ride with the San Francisco Giants, and all roads are pointing towards a reunion in 2027.

That said, Bleacher Report's Zachary Rymer proposed a massive blockbuster that would see the Yankees make a move for Devers.

Obviously, Devers is a very expensive player who hasn't necessarily worked out for the Giants so far, but his power surge at the end of the 2026 season showed there's still a ton of potential with him as a designated hitter.

To say that San Francisco's 2026 season didn't go according to plan would be an understatement. Now, the team needs to focus on what will give them the best shot at not losing close to 100 games next year, and that could be cutting a deal with the 27-time World Series champions.

Giants proposed return for Devers

According to Rymer, a logical haul for Devers would see San Francisco get right-handed pitchers Luis Gil and Carlos Lagrange.

Lagrange is currently the No. 100 prospect in all of baseball, and he was a major focal point for the Yankees heading into the 2026 season.

He didn't necessarily factor into their plans this past year, but that doesn't mean he isn't ready for the big leagues.

Lagrange, 23, is a Jacob Misiorowski-type of flamethrower, though just because he throws 103 mph doesn't mean he belongs in that same conversation.

Rymer talked about how Gil was the former Rookie of the Year, but that doesn't mean he's the same pitcher now that he's 28 years old.

Swapping Devers for a pair of pitchers would be a smart move with how the Giants' rotation is looking, but is this package good enough for San Francisco to actually pull the trigger?

Lagrange is as unproven at the big-league level as it gets, but getting younger is the name of the game for the Giants.

Gil only pitched in nine games this past season, so his limited sample size and inflated ERA don't give the Giants the full picture as to what he did in 2024.

As it stands, Devers is under contract through the 2033 season. He's set to be a Giant until he's 36 years old, and will earn at least $30 million in each of the next seven seasons.
