After a memorable WBC Tournament, Logan Webb is set to lead the San Francisco Giants into Opening Day with renewed energy.

San Francisco Giants ace Logan Webb is turning the page from an emotional international run to one of the most meaningful assignments in baseball: Opening Day starter.

Webb is embracing both the memories of the World Baseball Classic and the opportunity to lead his club into a new season.

Webb made his final appearance for Team USA in the quarterfinals before remaining with the team through the championship round in Miami. Though Team USA fell short against Venezuela, the experience left a lasting impression on the Giants’ right-hander.

“I think it was great for baseball,” Webb said. “The whole environment — I had a blast. Obviously, it didn’t end how we wanted, but it was electric.”

The atmosphere and intensity of the tournament offered Webb a glimpse of October-like baseball, something he has rarely experienced at the Major League level.

Over his career, postseason opportunities have been limited, fueling his desire to bring meaningful games back to San Francisco.

Now, his focus shifts fully to the Giants, as he prepares to take the mound against the New York Yankees on Opening Day at Oracle Park. Webb expressed confidence in the team’s direction, citing improved energy and a strong clubhouse dynamic.

“We’ve got new players, a new staff, and a fresh vibe,” Webb said. “It should be a fun team.”

According to Giants beat reporter Maria Guardado of MLB.com, this start will mark Webb’s fifth consecutive Opening Day nod, placing him among elite company in franchise history.

Only Hall of Famer Juan Marichal (six straight) holds a longer streak for the Giants, while Webb joins names like Madison Bumgarner in reaching at least five.

“It’s really special,” Webb said. “To even be mentioned with guys like that is cool.”

Giants manager Tony Vitello praised Webb’s leadership, noting how the ace sets the tone both on and off the field. That presence will be critical as San Francisco aims to reestablish itself as a contender.

Webb also looks forward to a reunion with Aaron Judge, his former Team USA teammate, now an opponent in the Opening Day matchup. With both stars ready to headline the season’s first game, Webb understands the moment.

“This is show business,” he said. “We’re going to go out there and compete.”
