San Francisco Giants prospect Jhonny Level continued his breakout season Thursday night, delivering another two-homer performance.
Few hitters in Minor League Baseball have generated more momentum this month than Jhonny Level, and the young infielder added another statement performance Thursday night for Single-A San Jose.
The Giants' prospect continued his scorching offensive stretch during San Jose’s 9-7 victory over Stockton at Excite Ballpark, finishing with four hits and two home runs in one of his most complete performances of the season.
It marked the second time this week that Level recorded a multi-homer game, further cementing his emergence as one of the top bats in the California League.
At only 18 years old, Level has quickly developed into a centerpiece of San Francisco’s farm system thanks to his combination of contact ability, athleticism, and growing power from both sides of the plate. His latest performance only added to the growing attention surrounding his breakout campaign.
Level first delivered damage in the second inning when he drove a solo home run to right-center field against Stockton starter Sam Stuhr. The swing gave San Jose an early offensive spark. It also continued a trend that has followed the infielder throughout the month as he has consistently delivered impactful at-bats in key moments.
Later in the contest, Level struck again in the seventh inning with another drive over the fence, this time producing a two-run shot against reliever Jackson Holmes. The home run helped create breathing room for San Jose during a tightly contested game and pushed Level’s season total to nine long balls.
Beyond the power numbers, Level’s overall offensive production has separated him from many hitters across the league. Through 35 games, he has elevated his batting average above the .340 mark while carrying an OPS north of 1.000.
His recent surge has also placed him among the league leaders in slugging percentage and overall offensive production.
Thursday’s outing represented another example of the consistency Level has displayed throughout May. The four-hit performance was already his fifth multi-hit effort of the month, while he also crossed the plate three times and drove in three runs during the victory.
The switch-hitting infielder has also shown an ability to impact games in unique ways. Earlier this week, Level homered from both sides of the plate during another dominant performance, highlighting the versatility and power potential that continue to make him one of the most intriguing young players in the San Francisco Giants organization.
