Power-hitting outfielder Bo Davidson shattered club records with 11 June home runs, forcing a roster dilemma as the San Francisco Giants prepare to usher in a new youth movement.

The San Francisco Giants are primed to be sellers at the trade deadline, and that decision is a lot easier knowing Bo Davidson is ready for his time to shine.

Davidson, 24, has been seeing the ball extremely well in Double-A. He's yet to play in Triple-A, but that doesn't mean he's not ready to leave his mark on this organization.

In fact, he already has. Davidson was just named the Double-A Eastern League Player of the Month for his performance in June.

Davidson hit 11 home runs in the month of June, a number that broke the all-time record in the Giants organization. Officially, Davidson's 11 homers in a calendar month made franchise history.

40-Man Roster Spot is Coming

The San Jose Mercury-News' Justice delos Santos confirmed Davidson will indeed have to be put on the 40-man roster this winter, so it's only a matter of time before the Giants give him a shot, or give up on him altogether.

Sure, it's not ideal knowing he's 24-years-old and still in Double-A, but each player develops at their own pace and there's nothing wrong with that.

Through 67 games this season, Davidson is slashing .272/.341/.520 with a .861 OPS. Shockingly, that's one of the lowest OPS's of his career. Back in 2024, it was a career-high 1.042, though that did come in just 220 at-bats.

At the time of writing, Davidson has already matched his number of home runs (18) from last season. He's done so in nearly 200 fewer at-bats, and this recent power surge is one the team hopes they can ride out for quite some time. A promotion to Triple-A could be nearing. It's just a matter of when, not if, he makes it to that level.

Giants' Next Generation

San Francisco is already trying to pave the way for Bryce Eldridge to make a name for himself at the majors. Eldridge, 21, is a few years younger than Davidson but has already proven himself with seven big-league homers and an OPS of .833 in 168 at-bats.

If a team is going to trade away their veterans, the goal has to be to get younger. Should Davidson continue to climb the ranks and the Giants get a few top prospects for the likes of Willy Adames, Rafael Devers, Matt Chapman, among others, they'll be in good shape for years to come and it'll be much easier for everyone to forget about what a disaster this 2026 season has been.
