When it comes to the San Francisco Giants' 2026 season, there are only a few positive things that can be said.
This team improved to 62-85 back on Wednesday, Sept. 9, but since that game they've gone 3-10.
That stretch began with a four-game losing streak, and their recent 2-0 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers has given them their second three-game skid since the last time they played the Dodgers on Friday, Sept. 18.
Being shut out is never a good thing, but the only silver lining is the fact that this likely won't be anywhere close to the lineup the Giants roll out to start the 2027 season.
At this point, all San Francisco needs to do is get to the finish line, and thankfully they're only two games away.
Giants fall to 65-95
In a game that featured 10 combined hits, it shouldn't be too surprising to hear the Giants only had three of those.
Yunior Marte put up a zero in the first inning, but he would then allow the game's only two runs in the second.
After allowing a walk and a single to get the game started, Marte would come back out for the second inning but was quickly exposed.
Teoscar Hernandez hit a leadoff homer on the first pitch he saw, crushing a 90 mph four-seam fastball 412 feet to left field.
Max Muncy flew out on the very next pitch, only for Andy Pages to win a seven-pitch battle and hit an 86 mph slider for a home run.
Just like that, it was 2-0, and that was all she wrote for the Giants.
Marte fell to 0-2 after going five innings. He struck out four batters, only walked one, but allowed the two earned runs on six hits.
For once, the Giants bullpen put up zeroes across the board. In fact, their four relievers combined for three strikeouts while only allowing one hit.

The numbers across the board for the Giants were quite embarrassing. This team struck out 14 times and didn't draw a single walk, so they're clearly at that point in the year where discipline is out the door, and they're just swinging at everything.
A trio of players combined for one hit, but San Francisco only left two runners on base, and Jonah Cox went 0-for-4 on the night, with one of those at-bats being the team's only one of the night with a runner in scoring position.
