Logan Webb and Robbie Ray look to snap the San Francisco Giants' five-game skid against the Los Angeles Angels.
Things seemed to be going up for the San Francisco Giants when they shut out the Seattle Mariners, 7-0, in the first game back from the All-Star break.
Very quickly thereafter, this team realized they're still trending in the wrong direction. The Giants have lost each of their last five games, and haven't scored more than four runs in any of them.
Fresh off being swept by the Kansas City Royals, the Giants enjoyed a much-needed off day on Thursday, July 23.
Now, the team sets its sights on the Los Angeles Angels as part of a six-day, six-game homestand.
Friday, July 24
Grayson Rodriguez (3-3, 8.23 ERA) vs. Logan Webb (5-7, 3.87 ERA)
Grayson Rodriguez is slated to make his ninth start of the 2026 season. In his first year with the Angels, the 26-year-old has an ERA that's through the roof. His 1.77 WHIP is by far the worst of his career, and it's crazy to think his WAR is down to -1.1 after it was a career-high 1.4 in 2024.
Logan Webb, on the other hand, has a stellar 1.11 WHIP, which is good for 20th in all of baseball. His ERA is a bit higher than he'd like, and he'd love to get that win/loss record sorted out. The 29-year-old allowed three earned runs on two hits in his first start back from the All-Star break, one that saw him go 6.2 innings.
Saturday, July 25
Ryan Johnson (2-4, 6.10 ERA) vs. Robbie Ray (8-6, 3.33 ERA)
Ryan Johnson has been a bit all over the place this season. He'll be making his eighth start in his 11th appearance, but he's still settling into this new role with the Angels. He's coming off a strong five-inning performance on July 19, but it's worth noting he took the loss the last time he pitched fresh off a win.
Robbie Ray has the 22nd-best ERA in all of baseball. He allowed a trio of runs in a rough four-inning outing on Sunday, July 19, though only one of those was earned. It's still worth noting he needed 86 pitches to get through four innings, and he needed 100 to get through five back on Friday, July 10.
Sunday, July 26
Jose Soriano (8-6, 3.43 ERA) vs. TBD
The Giants' lone to-be-determined starter comes in the series finale. Los Angeles isn't hiding their cards as they announced 27-year-old Jose Soriano will close out this series. He may have allowed at least two earned runs in each of his last six starts, but he's a proven starter who can go deep into games and has a strong 3.50 ERA in the month of July.
