The San Francisco Giants came alive against the Colorado Rockies on Sunday.
The San Francisco Giants snapped their five-game losing streak in emphatic fashion on Sunday with a 19-6 win over the Colorado Rockies.
The Giants’ offense was clicking on all cylinders as it notched its highest-scoring game since Sept. 1, 2020, which also came against the Rockies in a 23-5 win. Here is how it happened:
Lee Leads the Way
The Giants logged a whopping 25 hits in 50 at-bats on Sunday, and five batters had three-plus hits. Atop the hitting production was right fielder Jung Hoo Lee.
Lee stepped up to the plate six times and had a career-high five hits. He also added two RBIs. Lee's big day started in the first inning, when he hit an RBI single to bring Rafael Devers across home plate to give San Francisco its first run of the day.
Lee later doubled and then singled three more times in his big contribution to a dominant afternoon, and he was hardly alone in his efforts.
Devers Delivers
After starting the month of May with abysmal numbers by his standards, Devers has started showing improvement, and Sunday marked his best performance of the season.
Devers notched four hits in six tries on Sunday to go along with one walk. In a highly productive day at the plate, Devers’ only blemish was a strikeout in the top of the ninth inning.
Otherwise, three of Devers’ four hits were doubles, and he consistently put himself in position for his teammates to drive him across home plate. Of the Giants’ 19 runs, Devers accounted for four of them.
Willy’s Big Day
Alongside Lee and Devers in adding to Sunday’s rout was Willy Adames, who went 3-for-5 with four RBIs while drawing a walk.
The highlight moment for Adames came in the fifth inning, when he hit a grand slam to make it an 11-3 game. Like Devers, his only blemish was a strikeout in the top of the seventh. Beyond his grand slam, Adames also had two singles.
The performances of Lee, Devers, and Adames were the catalyst for the Giants as the trio combined to go 12-for-17 with seven RBIs, but the contributions from the batting order expanded well beyond them.
Every Giants batter who stepped up to the plate logged at least one hit, and that included Jonah Cox, who was making his MLB debut and had a double in the top of the ninth.
Now back in the win column, the Giants will travel to Milwaukee to face the Brewers on Monday to begin a four-game series.
