The San Francisco Giants' offense continued its recent surge Wednesday, and Luis Arraez was right in the middle of it.

Arraez launched an early home run and collected another multi-hit performance as San Francisco defeated the Atlanta Braves 7-5 in Game Two of a doubleheader. The victory completed a sweep of the twin bill and secured a series win against one of baseball's hottest teams.

The veteran infielder's home run helped set the tone early. According to Arraez, the swing came from an aggressive approach he rarely takes.

"I was ready for a fastball on the first pitch," Arraez said. "I don't usually do that, but I was looking for it and got a pitch I could handle."

The blast was another example of an offense that has become increasingly dangerous as multiple hitters find their rhythm at the same time.

Batting in the leadoff spot, Arraez has benefited from the protection behind him, particularly from rookie Bryce Eldridge. The 21-year-old continues to make an impact in the top of the order, giving opposing pitchers fewer opportunities to work around hitters.

Arraez believes the Giants' offensive success starts with contributions throughout the batting order rather than relying on one or two players.

"I have a lot of protection behind me," Arraez said. "Bryce is doing a really good job. Everybody is contributing."

The significance of Wednesday's sweep was not lost on Arraez either. Atlanta entered the series as one of baseball's top-performing clubs, making the two victories an important statement for San Francisco.

"Everybody knows they have a really good team," Arraez said. "We just competed, did the little things, scored runs and found a way to win."

While the offense grabbed much of the attention, Arraez also praised rookie left-hander Carson Whisenhunt for his performance in his first major league appearance of the season.

Whisenhunt delivered six innings despite arriving in Atlanta earlier in the day after being called up from Triple-A Sacramento.

"He did a really good job," Arraez said. "He has really good stuff and can be a big-league pitcher."

Arraez finished the night with his 29th multi-hit game of the season, continuing to provide the consistent production that has helped fuel the Giants' recent success.
