At just 19 years old, Jhonny Level is quickly making himself impossible to ignore within the San Francisco Giants' farm system.

The switch-hitting shortstop has erupted out of the gate in 2026 with Single-A San Jose, putting together one of the most impressive early-season performances among minor league prospects.

Through his first stretch of games, Level has showcased a complete offensive profile, combining power, speed, and advanced plate discipline. His production has placed him among the most productive hitters in the minors and earned him recognition as one of baseball’s top prospects.

For a player who only recently turned 19, the polish in his game stands out as much as the numbers themselves.

Signed out of Venezuela in early 2024, Level was one of the organization’s most significant international additions that year.

A native of Cumaná, he developed his skills at a young age and grew up idolizing fellow switch-hitting star Francisco Lindor. That influence is evident in his game today, particularly in his ability to hit from both sides of the plate with confidence and consistency.

Level’s professional journey has been a steady climb. After debuting in the Dominican Summer League, he transitioned to stateside competition and impressed with a strong showing in the Arizona Complex League.

That performance earned him a late promotion to Single-A San Jose late last season, where he experienced growing pains against older competition. Rather than stall his development, that stretch appears to have accelerated it.

Now back in San Jose, Calif., Level looks far more comfortable. His swing decisions are sharper, and he’s driving the ball with authority to all fields.

Whether batting left-handed or right-handed, he has shown minimal splits, a promising sign for his long-term offensive outlook. One standout moment came against Los Angeles Dodgers ace Blake Snell during a rehab appearance last week, when Level recorded a clean hit despite facing one of the game’s top pitchers.

Beyond the bat, Level’s defensive ability remains a work in progress but is full of upside. Coaches have praised his work ethic and willingness to make adjustments, traits that have accelerated his development.

While the Giants’ system features several highly regarded infield prospects, Level’s emergence adds another dynamic piece to the mix.

His early-season surge is more than just a hot streak; it’s a glimpse at a player who could soon become a key figure in the organization’s future plans.
