The future of the San Francisco Giants' organization will take the field on March 19, when the club’s most promising prospects gather for the annual Spring Breakout showcase at Scottsdale Stadium.
The event will feature many of the Giants’ highest-ranked young players competing together in a prospect-focused exhibition designed to highlight baseball’s next generation. This was first reported by Giants beat reporter Maria Guardado of MLB.com.
Headlining the Giants’ group is power-hitting first baseman Bryce Eldridge, who currently stands as the organization’s No. 1 prospect and the No. 25 overall prospect in baseball according to MLB Pipeline.
The 21-year-old slugger already received a brief taste of major-league action last September and has entered camp this spring competing for a spot on San Francisco’s Opening Day roster.
Eldridge won’t be the only intriguing talent taking part in the showcase.
The Giants’ system features a strong group of middle infield prospects who could also appear in the matchup, including Josuar Gonzalez, Luis Hernández, Jhonny Level, and Gavin Kilen.
Each ranks among the top five prospects in the organization and represents a key part of the club’s long-term plans.
Among that group, Gonzalez has drawn particular attention from evaluators. The 18-year-old switch-hitting shortstop has generated excitement for his athleticism and offensive upside since signing with the Giants for $2,997,500 last year.
Gonzalez debuted professionally in the Dominican Summer League in 2025 and delivered strong results, batting .288 while posting an .859 OPS with four home runs across 52 games.
While San Francisco’s farm system is especially deep with position players, the organization will also showcase several intriguing young pitchers during the event.
Left-hander Jacob Bresnahan stands as the club’s highest-ranked pitching prospect.
Bresnahan enjoyed a standout 2025 campaign at Single-A San Jose, where he earned California League Pitcher of the Year honors after recording a 2.61 ERA across 22 starts.
Several other arms are expected to draw attention as well, including right-handers Keyner Martinez, Argenis Cayama, and Luis De La Torre, all of whom impressed after reaching Single-A San Jose late last season.
Roster construction for the 2026 Spring Breakout event will follow a two-stage process.
Teams must first submit a preliminary pool of 40 players on March 5. That list will then be trimmed to a final roster of between 23 and 27 players by March 18.
The preliminary pool primarily consists of each club’s Top 30 prospects as ranked by MLB Pipeline, excluding injured players, those assigned to the Dominican Summer League, or players on the 40-man roster who opt out of participating.
Teams are also permitted to add at least ten additional unranked prospects to round out the pool.
With several of the Giants’ brightest young talents expected to appear, the March 19 contest should provide fans with an early glimpse at players who could shape the franchise’s future.
