Andres Gimenez goes four-for-five in Cleveland Guardians' win over the Tampa Bay Rays.
The Cleveland Guardians had trouble closing out the first two games of their series with the Tampa Bat Rays.
They had a chance to win game one after the Rays let Cleveland tie up the game with three wild pitches and the Guardians had game three in the bag until Emmanuel Clase's struggles in the ninth inning ended in a walk-off.
Cleveland was able to salvage a win in the series finale behind another fantastic start from Tanner Bibee and an offensive explosion.
Andres Gimemenz set the tone of the game early. He started off the game with a solo home run off of Zach Eflin and the Guardians never looked back after this. Gimenez finished the game going four-for-five at the play and a pair of RBI.
Eflin is one of MLB's best pitchers and he's only allowed up to five runs in two of his start this season. The offense put together six runs on nine hits against him which is a season his for Eflin. Gimenez, Kole Calhoun, Oscar Gonzalez, and Will Brennan all recorded multi-hit games.
Gabriel Arias also hit an early two-run homer to give Cleveland an early three-run lead.
Gimenez said after the game that a convincing win such as this one after two tough losses is important for himself and the team.
Cleveland has a day off on Monday before starting a quick two-game set with the Cincinnati Reds before heading home. Hopefully, some of this offense can carry into that series so the Guardians can stay in the hunt for the AL Central crown.
