Erik Sabrowski is back in the Cleveland Guardians bullpen.
It’s been a whirlwind week for the Cleveland Guardians, who have had nothing but bad news on the injury front with Jose Ramirez, Chase DeLauter, and Angel Martinez all ending up on the IL for the foreseeable future.
Finally, ahead of Cleveland’s series opener against the Houston Astros, the Guardians got some positive news on the injury front, getting one of their key high-leverage relievers back.
Erik Sabrowski Activated Off The 15-Day Injured List
The Guardians announced on Friday that they were activating LHP Erik Sabrowski from the 15-Day injured list.
Cleveland initially placed Sabrowski on the IL on May 25 with left elbow inflammation. The Guardians didn’t want to take any chances with the left-hander, considering his lengthy injury history and pair of Tommy John surgeries throughout his baseball career.
The good news was that the MRI showed nothing worse than inflammation, and the team didn’t think his absence would be too long.
Sabrowksi made one rehab appearance with the Akron RubberDucks on Wednesday evening. He threw 20 pitches in two-thirds of an inning, struck out both batters, issued one walk, and didn’t allow a hit. Sabrowski’s velocity looked strong in this outing, too, with his fastball topping out at 94 mph.
So far during the 2026 season, Sabrowski owns a 1.71 ERA and a 0.95 WHIP, while carrying a whiff rate of 36.1 percent and a strikeout rate of 47 percent.
Having Sabrowski back in the bullpen is a massive boost for the Guardians as they continue to play so many one-run games.

In a corresponding move, the Guardians optioned RHP Will Dion back down to Triple-A.
Dion has served his role as an innings eater for the Guardians this season, but has struggled to limit hard contact and runs. In six appearances, Dion owns a 5.56 ERA and a 1.85 WHIP. His opponent's average exit velocity is 86.4 mph
Cleveland will likely need another arm to help get through a bullpen pinch later on this season. With Dion proving he can provide multiple innings in relief, it would be surprising to see him get another opportunity later on this year.
