The Cleveland Guardians designated RHP Peyton Pallette for assignment, and recalled LHP Logan Allen.
The Cleveland Guardians made some roster moves centered on the pitching staff ahead of their series finale against the Philadelphia Philies on Sunday. Here are the moves the front office made.
Peyton Pallette - Designated for Assignment
Peyton Pallette showed a ton of promise in Spring Training after the Guardians selected him from the Chicago White Sox with their Rule 5 Draft pick over the offseason. His standout spring performance even earned him a spot on the Opening Day roster as the Guardians didn’t want to send him back to their division rival.
However, the Pallette experiment went as the Guardians had hoped, ultimately leading them to decide to move on from the right-handed pitcher.
The most intriguing aspect of Pallette’s skill set is his fastball, which averages 95.4 mph and reached close to 98 mph during Spring Training. The issue is that he doesn’t have an offspeed or breaking pitch to complement that velocity, which leads to a lot of hard contact.
Palette’s opponent's average exit velocity is 89.7 mph, and his hard-hit rate is 42.6 mph. Plus, the right-hander hasn’t been able to generate the punch-outs the Guardians were hoping for, with his strikeout rate only sitting at 23.1 percent.
Perhaps the biggest impact of designating Pallette for assignment is that it opens up a spot on the 40-man roster. It’ll be interesting to see who fills that spot and when.

Stephen Vogt made it clear in Goodyear when the Guardians optioned Logan Allen to Triple-A that he would, at some point, impact the team during the 2026 season.
It appears that the time has come, as Cleveland recalled the left-hander on Sunday, taking Pallette’s spot on the roster.
The interesting piece to this is that Allen hasn’t pitched out of the bullpen during the 2026 season; all eight of his appearances with the Clippers have come as starts. In those Minor League appearances, Allen owns a 5.45 ERA and a 1.58 WHIP with a strikeout rate of 64 percent and a walk rate of 11.2 percent.
Still, he’s pitched out of the bullpen a handful of times last season, so the Guardians know he has it in his arsenal.
