One of the things that makes Jose Ramirez one of MLB's best players is how consistent he is.
Not just consistent with his production, but also in his availability; it's rare that Ramirez is out of the lineup for the Cleveland Guardians. That's one of the reasons it was so concerning when he exited Saturday's game early.
Manager Stephen Vogt confirmed after the game that Ramirez suffered a fracture in his left hamate bone, and the Guardians officially placed him on the 10-day injured list on Sunday.
Ramirez said that he knew exactly when the injury took place.
"I felt something out of the normal after I finished the swing, and I hear some pop, and obviously my hands start hurting, so I knew there was something off there," said Ramirez through his interpreter, Auggie Rivero.
Of course, Ramirez wants to get back out on the field as soon as possible. However, as of now, there's no timetable for when J-Ram can return to playing the hot corner.
"I was still talking to the doctors. They know there's something broken, something related to my hamate, but now timelines or anything to find, it's just something that is, something's broken," continued Ramirez.
"I met with the head trainer... but I don't know any timelines yet."

Ramirez hasn't had his usual MVP-caliber season. He has just a .239/.339/.418 slash line so far in 2026.
However, his 10 home runs and 24 stolen bases can be overlooked, either, especially considering the Guardians don't have an elite lineup.
With Ramirez on the injured list, it'll be all hands on deck for the Guardians to maintain their position in the American League Central until they can get their superstar back.
Ramirez has full faith in this group that they can do just that, or even more.
"I trust wholeheartedly in them, and I know they were going to be able to start competing, so I know we're going to be able to compete for the playoffs when I'm not around," he said.
The Guardians will miss Ramirez while he's gone, but the important thing now is that Cleveland can get their superstar back at some point this season for a final playoff push.
