This Cleveland Guardians rotation has been one of the most reliable groups in franchise history.
The strength of the Cleveland Guardians organization has been no secret over the last decade; it’s been the dominance of the team’s pitching staff and the consistency of the group, too.
The same can be said for the 2026 team, as the starting rotation remains the backbone of the roster and will be the indicator of the team's success.
Not only has the rotation been consistent and effective, but they’re also writing their names in Cleveland history books, too.
As Parker Messick took the mound on Tuesday evening against the Chicago White Sox, this iteration of the Guardians’ rotation officially set a new franchise record.
Up to this point, the Guardians have only used five starters so far this season: Tanner Bibee, Gavin Williams, Joey Cantillo, Slade Cecconi, and Parker Messick.
Cleveland now owns a streak of 80 games without needing a sixth starter, which is the longest in club history, just ahead of the 1999 team.

Cleveland’s starter 3.81 ERA is the fifth-best in the American League and the eighth-best in all of baseball. The Guardians’ starting pitchers have also covered 437.0 innings this season, which is the third-most in the Majors.
Looking at some individual standout stats from this group, Williams’ 111 strikeouts are the fourth-most in MLB, Messick’s 2.70 ERA is the lowest by a Cleveland left-hander since Cliff Lee’s 2.34 ERA in 2008, and Bibee has turned out a quality start in three of his last four outings.
It’s a good thing that Cleveland’s rotation has been so consistent in terms of availability up to this point in the season, because the Guardians don’t have much starting pitching depth outside of these five. That was only highlighted more with the recent injury news to top pitching prospect Khal Stephen.
Even though the Guardians' rotation has been reliable so far this season, one injury could devastate a pitching staff.
With that in mind, it wouldn’t be shocking to see the Guardians add another veteran starter before the trade deadline, even with the historic stretch the team has been on.
