The Cleveland Guardians won their series against the Detroit Tigers after their third walk-off win of the weekend.
CLEVELAND - Baseball can be a funny sport sometimes, and Sunday proved just that.
A week ago, Daniel Schneemann was playing at Triple-A and was unsure about what the rest of the season could hold for him.
On Sunday, after being called back up as part of September call-ups, he was the Cleveland Guardians’ hero, securing a walk-off victory over the Detroit Tigers, which also clinched the season series for Cleveland.
“Just a really fun moment for Schnee. I mean, he's worked so hard all year, put himself in that position, and to come through, had to feel really good,” said manager Stephen Vogt after the game.
What made this moment that much more impressive was that Schneemann wasn’t initially in the starting lineup. He came in as a defensive substitute in the top of the eighth.
It just so happens that it was his turn in the order in the 10th inning with Angel Genao standing on third base with nobody out.
“I really wanted to come through right there, but I just tried to not to let the situation get too big,” Schneemann said postgame.

Cleveland’s other two wins against the Tigers over the last three days also came in high-leverage, back-and-forth affairs that eventually ended in walk-offs.
Three walk-off wins in one series is an incredibly rare feat, and the Guardians were able to accomplish just that over the weekend.
The last time Cleveland won three games in a four-game series, all via a walk-off, was May 17- 20, 2013, against the Seattle Mariners. The only other team in baseball to accomplish this in 2026 is the same team the Guardians are chasing in the American League Central race: the Chicago White Sox.
“What a great what a great weekend. Obviously, we wish we could win games differently and be a little more relaxed, but that's not who we are,” said Vogt.
“We love these games, and it happens every time with those guys. We always play back and forth games, but for our guys to clutch up, come through, what an unbelievable weekend.”
