The Cleveland Guardians activated Angel Martinez and Tim Herrin from the injured list before their three-game set against the Tampa Bay Rays.

Before the Guardians open up a three-game set with American League contender Tampa Bay Rays, Cleveland made some more roster moves to get back some of their key players off the injured list.
Angel Martinez Activated From Injured List, Daniel Schneemann Optioned to Triple-A
Over a month after a non-displaced foot fracture, Angel Martinez has been activated off the injured list and is in the lineup, hitting leadoff and playing right field.
Martinez's comeback felt imminent for the last few days. Not only was he playing nearly full games on his rehab assignment, but Martinez was swinging a hot bat as well. The switch-hitter went five-for-12 with a home run and two doubles in his four rehab games.
Martinez had been having a career year up to his injury, logging a .718 OPS in 226 at-bats. His 11 home runs even led the Guardians at the time of his injury.
Cleveland is getting one of their better offensive players back
With Martinez activated, the Guardians had to make room on the big-league roster for him. The corresponding move was optioning Daniel Schneemann down to Triple-A.
Schneemann has been a key piece defensively for the Guardians this season, but Martinez also brings with him some versatility.

The Guardians are also getting a boost on the pitching end of things, too, as Cleveland activated Tim Herrin off the injured list ahead of their series against the Rays.
Herrin landed on the injured list after being hit on his throwing arm by a comebacker off the bat of Royce Lewis on July 8. Thankfully, there was no fracture, and it was just a contusion that Herrin had to work back from.
The left-hander made two appearances in a rehab outing this week and is now set to rejoin the Guardians' bullpen.
To make room on the MLB roster for Herrin, Cleveland optioned Will Dion to Triple-A. He most recently pitched two innings out of the bullpen on Wednesday evening.
