Chase Delauter has given the Cleveland Guardians an immediate boost since coming off the injured list.
It’s no secret that the Cleveland Guardians' offense has been searching for offense over the last few weeks.
The Guardians got some hope when they activated Chase DeLauter off the injured list, but there were still some questions about how the 24-year-old would look at the plate.
He was still dealing with the impacts of a fractured rib, which can affect a player’s swing, and didn’t participate in a rehab assignment, which means he hadn’t faced live, in-game pitching in over two weeks.
The good news is that DeLauter is showing no impact from that rub injury at the plate.
In DeLauter’s three games since coming off the injured list, he owns a .385 (5-for-13) with two doubles and three RBI.
It’s not just that DeLauter is getting on base, but he’s still able to hit the ball hard. His RBI double in Monday night’s game against the Texas Rangers ended up being the third-hardest hit ball of the rookie’s young career; it came off the bat at 110.7 mph.
The Guardians can also thank DeLauter for their series-clinching victory against the Seattle Mariners last Sunday. He was responsible for a two-run single in the right inning, which tied the game, and set up Rhys Hoskins' go-ahead double.

If you see DeLauter rubbing his side, he’s more likely than not just adjusting the pad, not that he’s in pain.
DeLauter said during the 13 days that he was away, he primarily focused on his recovery so he could get back on the field with his team.
What DeLauter has been able to do over the past few games hasn’t been easy, and manager Stephen Vogt made sure to emphasize this.
“It's really hard,” Cleveland’s skipper said.
“You take two weeks off, it can mess with your timing, it can mess with your rhythm. But Chase is just such a natural hitter. And he and just a testament to how hard he worked when he was on the IL but he's looking really good right now.”
The Guardians have needed this boost from their roster, and DeLauter is giving it to them right off the injured list.
