The Cleveland Guardians have dropped the lineup for Game 2 of the ALDS against the Chicago White Sox.
The Cleveland Guardians fell in Game 1 of the American League Division Series to the Chicago White Sox, losing home-field advantage in the process.
Cleveland just couldn't overcome the Chicago offense, and the team just didn't play well. But this can happen to teams that have a bye week before the postseason starts, while the opposing team stays ready with games.
However, entering into Game 2, the Guardians understand the stakes of the contest before the scene shifts to Chicago. Cleveland will be looking to tie up the series in front of their home fans, making this a best-of-three moving forward.
Right-hander Gavin Williams will be on the mound for Cleveland, giving this team a strong chance to win. Williams has performed excellently for the Guardians all season, and he will need another good outing in this game.
For the year, the right-hander has posted a 3.76 ERA over 32 starts, throwing 184.1 innings of work. In his postseason career, Williams has recorded a 3.24 ERA over two starts for Cleveland.
Cleveland will be looking for Williams to set the tone in this game, and he has delivered all year. The right-hander knows the White Sox well, but the playoffs are an entirely different animal for any pitcher.
Guardians Drop Lineup For Game 2 vs White Sox
Ahead of the game starting, the Guardians have now released the lineup for the contest. Here is how manager Stephen Vogt has put together the order for Game 2 against Chicago:
Leading off will be Steven Kwan, who will be playing in center field today. Behind him will be Jose Ramirez, who will be playing at third base.
Chase DeLauter will hit third in the game, playing in right field. Hitting fourth will be Jo Adell, taking on the designated hitter role.
Nathaniel Lowe will be batting fifth in this game, playing at first base. Angel Martinez will be hitting sixth today, playing in left field.
Hitting seventh will be Travis Bazzana, playing at second base. Behind the plate will be Patrick Bailey, hitting eighth for Cleveland.
And rounding everything out will be Brayan Rocchio, who will play at shortstop yet again.
The Guardians are hopeful that they can grab Game 2 to even the series up before they head out on the road. But this team will have to play much better in this contest to get the win.
First pitch for Game 2 between the Guardians and White Sox is set for 2:00 p.m. PT/5:00 p.m. ET.
