Cleveland Guardians' Colin Holderman was taken out of his most recent rehab appearance.

Colin Holderman landed on the injured list on September 4 with wrist inflammation, which is an injury that he’d been day-to-day with earlier this season, and forced the pitcher to miss much of the 2025 season, too.
It looked like Holderman was getting closer to making a return for one of the final three series of the regular season, and had even been assigned for a rehab assignment with the Triple-A Columbus Clippers.
The bad news for the Guardians was that on Thursday evening, after throwing 14 pitches, Holderman exited his outing in the middle of
Cleveland’s skipper confirmed that Holderman felt something in his wrist again, and the team is now trying to gather more information about what could be next for the next for the 30 year old.
“He felt some discomfort while he was pitching again. So, we're going to gather information today and tomorrow to see what the next steps are,” said manager Stephen Vogt pregame Friday.
“Obviously, not good when you're in a rehab outing, and you're feeling pain. But before we can really identify what's going on, we just kind of have to see how he feels today and tomorrow.”

Those players will no longer have the opportunity to get live-action game work in, unless it’s at the big-league level.
Even in the event that Holderman does feel well enough to throw at the beginning of next week, that would have to come in a bullpen session of some sort, before facing live hitters again at the MLB level.
Holderman was one of Cleveland’s best relievers during the first half of the season, and quickly found himself in more and more high-leverage outings. He went into the All-Star break with a 1.78 ERA and a 0.85 WHIP in 35.1 innings.
Those numbers have ballooned since the Midsummer Classic, though. Holderman has a 4.67 ERA with a 1.44 WHIP since the middle of July. Those numbers suggest that this wrist injury could have been something Holderman has been dealing with even before he landed on the IL.
At this point, though, the Guardians clearly need to get more information on Holderman before he throws again.
