The Cleveland Guardians promoted three of their most promising prospects to their next Minor League level.
The Cleveland Guardians were busting making roster moves on Sunday. Not with the big-league team, but throughout the farm system, as the Cleveland promoted a trio of the organization's most promising prospects to their next respective levels.
INF Angel Genao
Angel Genao, Cleveland’s No. 3 overall prospect, is one level away from being a big-leaguer, after the Guardians promoted the infielder to Triple-A on Sunday. Genao was very impressive during his stint with the big-league club during Spring Training, and that continued into the start of the Minor League season.
Genao has been off to a very strong start at the plate so far during the 2026 season. He owns a .271/.418/.412 slashline, with three doubles and three home runs. The Guardians likely want a little more power out of the switch-hitter, but that’ll likely come with time and natural development; Genao is still only 21 years old.
The timing of this move is no coincidence. With Cleveland calling up Travis Bazzana to the MLB last week, a plethora of playing time in the middle infield just opened up, whether it be at second base or shortstop.
With Genao now at Triple-A at the beginning of May and being added to the 40-man roster over the offseason, an MLB call-up can’t be ruled out at some point this season.

After waiting a long time to make his Minor League debut, it appears the Guardians aren’t going to waste any time moving RHP Justin Campbell in their farm system.
Campbell was selected 37th overall in the 2022 MLB Draft, but has suffered a handful of injuries, such as a UCL tear with required Tommy John surgery, and a wrist injury.
The 25-year-old made his affiliate debut at High-A at the beginning of the 2026 season, and after six starts, Cleveland has determined he’s ready for the next level. In those outings, Campbell logged a 2.40 ERA, 0.93 WHIP, and a strikeout rate of 37.3 percent.
OF Jaison Chourio
Jaison Chourio is also being promoted, transferred from High-A Lake County to Double-A Akron alongside Campbell.
Cleveland’s outfield prospect is off to a scorching start to the Minor League season, putting up a .907 OPS with seven doubles and two home runs. He’s also stolen 10 bags, which has already tied that total
Chourio is currently ranked as Cleveland’s No. 11 prospect, but at one point was ranked as high as No. 3 just a year ago. Unfortunately, he has suffered some injuries over the last few seasons, which have cooled his stock.
That said, Chourio is still only 20 years old. There’s still plenty of time for development and improvement, and it appears we’re seeing that play out right now.
