Cleveland Guardians' Travis Bazzana always knew being an All-Star was a possibility.
This time last year, Travis Bazzana was still at Double-A, doing whatever he could to get one step closer to his MLB debut. Just three months ago, the 23-year-old was still playing Minor League baseball with the Columbus Clippers (Triple-A).
A lot can change in just a few weeks, and now, Bazzana is in Philadelphia for the 2026 All-Star Game after being named to the roster.
To make this even more special, Cleveland Guardians' rookie second baseman earned his way into the All-Star Game through the player vote; Bazzana’s peers recognized his talent and voted him into the Midsummer Classic.
On Monday, Bazzana was asked what he would have said if someone had told him back in spring training that he would be an All-Star in July.
He responded by saying, “I would have said it's possible, but I got a lot of things to do before that can happen.
“Like, make it to the big leagues. At least start off in Columbus and have success. So it kind of seems far-fetched, but I would have internally believed that it was possible, I guess.”

At the same time, Bazzana also understands that playing at this level takes a lot of work, and is something that’s given, it’s earned.
Bazzana is actually heading into the All-Star break on a little bit of a slump, but Cleveland’s second baseman earned his way onto the roster with an incredibly hot stretch at the plate at the end of June.
From the time Bazzana was called up to the All-Star break, he owns a .238/.330/.339 slashline. Compared to the rest of the American League’s second basemen, Bazzana’s 105 wrC+ ranks eighth in his position group.
Bazzana still has a long career ahead of him, but being named to the All-Star team in his rookie season is the validation he needs to belong in the big leagues.
