The Cleveland Guardians must focus on quality at-bats and not try to do too much with all of their injuries.
Life without Jose Ramirez, Chase DeLauter, and Angel Martinez has already proven to be difficult for the Cleveland Guardians.
Since the trio landed on the injured list, the Guardians are 1-4 and have scored 10 runs.
There's no denying that the Guardians need to shift their mentality to make up for the loss and stay afloat over the next few weeks.
With arguably Cleveland's three best hitters all out for the foreseeable future, veteran Rhys Hoskins shared that the Guardians mindset must be at the plate over the next stretch.
“It's just continuing to try to have quality at bats for nine straight innings, and that's even more important because of the guys that we're losing," said Hoskins after Cleveland's loss on Friday evening.
"Scoring one run in an inning goes a long way over a nine inning game, so we've done okay with scoring, you know, in one inning, putting up a few runs, but if we can just scratch across a few extra runs around the game, just makes our bullpen that much better, and we feel pretty good late in the game with that.”

It's not going to be on one person or player to step up and try to do too much; it must be a collective team effort for the Guardians to get over this.
In terms of Cleveland's loss to the Astros, Hoskins acknowledged that the Guardians did a good job getting out early and scoring, but that's not enough; the team must continue to add on to its leads. This was something that was a focal point for the Guardians even before the injury.
Even though the Guardians aren't relying on a single player to step up, Cleveland will look to its veteran leaders, like Hoskins, over the next few weeks.
The Guardians brought Hoskins in as a right-handed power bat before the season, and now they're going to depend on him to guide the young group through this adversity.
Neither task is easy, but as Hoskins emphasized, as long as the Guardians keep putting together quality at-bats, they should find themselves in a good spot when the injured trio is healthy again.
