Jose Ramirez is one of the top players in all of MLB. At this point, we all know that. But where exactly does the Cleveland Guardians' star rank compared to the rest of MLB’s top players?
MLB Network finished up sharing its Top 100 players heading into the 2026 season, and gave everyone a little glimpse of where J-Ram’s status compared to the rest of the league.
The ranking placed Ramirez at No. 5, only behind Seattle Mariners’ Cal Raleigh, Kansas City Royals’ Bobby Witt Jr., New York Yankees’ Aaron Judge, and Los Angeles Dodgers’ Shohei Ohtani.
Ramirez is mainly known for the impact he makes in the batter’s box and on the base paths, and that once again was true during the 2025 season.
A year ago, J-Ram slashed .283/.360/.503 with an OPS of .863, including 30 home runs. Ramirez also set a new career-high in his age 32 season, stealing 44 bags.
As good a hitter as Ramirez is, he’s also a tremendous defender at third base. Once again, Ramirez was named a Gold Glove Award finalist, even though he came up short. Ramirez finished last season with an outs above average of positive seven (93rd percentile) and a field run value of positive six (82nd percentile).
These are really nothing Ramirez can’t do on the diamond, which is one of the main reasons why he was an MVP finalist in 2025, even though he came in third behind Judge and Raleigh.

He’s now 33, and at this point, even MLB’s best players start to see some regression at this point in their career, but not Ramirez, at least, not yet.
Of course, throughout Ramirez’s career, he’s been given titles such as “underrated” or “undervalued.” Does he get all of the recognition he deserves playing in a smaller market like Cleveland? No.
That said, for Ramirez to come in as a top-five player shows that he’s far from being undervalued. J-Ram is one of the top players in MLB, and everyone knows it.
