Jo Adell continues to provide the Cleveland Guardians with much-needed run creation.
Jo Adell has only been a member of the Cleveland Guardians for just over two weeks, but the 27-year-old has taken advantage of each of his opportunities so far.
The veteran outfielder is already making his presence felt in the middle of the order, exceeding the expectations set on him after the trade, and is now etching his name into Cleveland history books, too.
On Sunday afternoon during Cleveland's series-clinching win over the Colorado Rockies, Adell helped the Guardians get off to a quick start with an RBI base hit in the top of the first inning to extend Cleveland’s lead by two runs.
Just one inning later, Adell came back up to the plate with Steven Kwan standing on third base, and he doubled to drive in Cleveland’s leadoff hitter.
After these two at-bats, Adell logged both his 16th and 17th RBI since joining the Guardians. Not only has the right-hander logged a multi-hit game in three straight contests, but Adell also made franchise history on Sunday afternoon.
Adell’s 17 RBI through his first 17 games with the team are the most since Mark Reynolds (18 RBI in April 2013). He also leads the team in RBI over this stretch.

He owns a pair of three-run homers since joining his new team, and Adell has also driven in runs simply through base hits and putting the ball in play.
Since joining the Guardians on August 3, Adell owns a .262/.333/.541 slash line, with nine extra-base hits. Despite the numbers, Cleveland’s newest outfielder has faced a little bit of adversity with his new team, too.
Adell was a day-to-day for a few games after fouling a ball off his knee during the Guardians’ series against the San Francisco Giants.
You’d never know that, though, based on how Adell has been able to produce at the plate.
Cleveland knew it needed more offense, especially from the right side of the plate, which is one of the key reasons the Guardians decided to trade for Adell in the first place.
The front office likely didn’t anticipate Adell etching his name into franchise history books this early in his tenure with the team, but it’s more evidence of the positive impact he’s had on the lineup.
