Patrick Bailey has been one of the Cleveland Guardians' best hitters in June.
Patrick Bailey has been a member of the Cleveland Guardians for a little over a month, after the organization made the shocking move to trade for the catcher just weeks into the 2026 season.
When Cleveland acquired Bailey, the vision for his impact was clear: the Guardians had added one of, if not the, best defensive backstops in all of baseball. The front office knew offense wasn’t one of Bailey’s strengths, but he made up for that with his run prevention.
By all indications, Bailey has lived up to that hype of being a Gold Glove-caliber catcher. His partnership with Cleveland pitchers is still a work in progress, but that was expected to take time, given that he joined a new team midseason.
Bailey said he’s been able to acclimate himself to his new team because, “I think it's just the culture that they've created. I feel like it's just kind of be yourself, it's just a lot of fun, man. Like it's a culture to go out and have fun, play hard.”
It’s not just as a catcher that Bailey is making an impact on this team, though. His bat is really starting to trend in the right direction, which is something the Guardians desperately need right now with all the injuries to their roster.

Of the 13 games the switch-hitter has played in this month, three of those have turned out to be multi-hit efforts.
When putting this into the context of Cleveland’s lineup, Bailey has been one of the best hitters on the team this month. His .731 OPS is the fourth-best on the Guardians in June, only trailing Travis Bazzana (.801), Jose Ramirez (.849), and Kyle Manzardo (.894).
“I'm definitely moving better, moving more confident. Just trying to continue to get better,” said Bailey about his recent stretch.
Are these numbers sustainable? Well, Bailey’s .458 BABIP suggests he’ll come back to earth at some point.
However, Bailey still has an above-average exit velocity this season, and he even joked that no longer playing at Oracle Park, with the wind blowing in from the Pacific Ocean in right field, could also be a factor.
At the very least, this stretch at the plate from Bailey should at least encourage Cleveland about the type of hitter he can be in the lineup moving forward.
