The Cleveland Guardians show how well-rounded a team they are in their series win over the Kansas City Royals.

Fourteen games into the 2026 season, and the Cleveland Guardians have yet to lose a series. The Guardians clinched another series victory on Wednesday afternoon, taking two of three games from their division rival, the Kansas City Royals.

Here are three takeaways from Cleveland’s latest series win.

Guardians Starting Pitching Stays Dominant

Through the first two weeks of the new MLB season, the Guardians rotation is picking up right where it left off a year ago, and they remained true against the Royals. Cleveland’s pitching set the tone, and the offense followed.

Tanner Bibee, Gavin Williams, and Joey Cantillo took the bump in the three-game set and combined to allow three earned runs against Kansas City.

Maybe the most impressive part of Cleveland’s performance from their starters is that they were able to limit damage when they each didn’t have their best stuff on the mound.

Bibee had an inning extended by 11 pitches in his start because of a wild pitch that should’ve been a strikeout. Williams walked five batters, but struck out eight. It was a similar story for Cantillo, who got deep into counts but still punched out nine hitters.

After Cleveland’s series win over Kansas City, the Guardians have the second-best starter ERA in MLB with a 2.67.

Juan Brito Ready To Make An Impact For the Guardians

Juan Brito is about to get his first extended run with the Guardians' big-league team.

Unfortunately, it comes at the expense of Gabriel Arias, who will be sidelined with a hamstring injury for an extended period of time, but Stephen Vogt said the organization is very excited to watch Britio, and the prospect showed why in his first two big-league games.

Brito started at second base in the final two games of the series, and wound up going 4-for-8, including two doubles and his first MLB RBI.

It wasn’t even just that Brito was getting hits, but the process in that production, too.

Of course, Brito won’t sustain a .500 batting average, but through two games, he’s showing he belongs at the big-league level and is ready to make an impact on this team.

Guardians Offense Is More Than Just Jose Ramirez

It's still early, but the Guardians have been winning series without relying on Jose Ramirez to lead the offense, and it's been a long time since the team could say that.

Cleveland scored 14 runs and tallied 28 hits over the last three games.

Of that, Ramirez had just two hits (both came in the series finale), drove in one run, and scored one run.

The big contributors at the plate against the Royals included Steven Kwan, Angel Martinez, Brito, and Rhys Hoskins.
