The Cleveland Guardians 2025 MLB Draft Class has several prospects with a lot of potential.
At this point in the season, every MLB front office is locked in on the upcoming draft, which will take place this weekend.
As the Cleveland Guardians prepare to welcome a whole new group of prospects into their organization, now is a perfect time to look back at their 2025 draft class, which is aging extremely well.
Cleveland’s 2025 class has a chance to be one of the best drafts the organization has had in a long time. That’s not exaggeration either, it’s that good.
In terms of OPS, the current leaders from this class are OF Nolan Schubart (.936), C Luke Hill (.914), and 1B Anthony Martinez.
Schubart is even tied with Milwaukee Brewers prospect Andrew Fischer for the most home runs in the Midwest League with 20, and Walton’s 15 home runs are tied for seventh.
That group doesn’t even include any of Cleveland’s top three draft picks, who are still putting together great starts to their professional careers.
Jace LaViolette (No. 27 pick) owns a .786 OPS with 13 home runs at High-A, Dean Curley (No. 64 pick) has a .906 OPS, and Aaron Walton (No. 66 pick) has a .906 OPS in his first professional season.
It’s hard to say which player from this group has the highest potential. There’s an argument to be made for Curley, Hill, LaViolette, Martinez, Walton, or Schubart.
Overall, the Guardians clearly had a plan to add an influx of power and pop into the organization, and that appears to be exactly what they did based on these early results.
The only potential concern right now with this group is that they’re still very young in their career and have a long way to go before potentially reaching the big-league level.
No position player from the 2025 class has made it past High-A yet, and a player’s stats may not hold up as they progress throughout the farm system.
That said, with the draft approaching, promotions could come quickly over the next few weeks.
If the numbers stay consistent, Cleveland could truly be looking at an all-time draft class.
