Shane Bieber strikes as nine Detroit Tigers as the Cleveland Guardians secure a victory.
Shane Bieber took the mound on Tuesday evening hoping to carry the momentum over from his start in New York where he pitched 8.0 innings and gave up just two runs.
The ace for the Cleveland Guardians was sharp again and did his part to put the team in a position to win.
Bieber pitched six innings in game two against the Detroit Tigers and didn't allow a single run across. This is especially important considering Cleveland's scoring struggles over the last month.
Limiting the runs isn't just where Bieber shined though. He also struck out a season-high nine-batters in the process. However, it didn't quite feel like this dominant of a start while watching the game.
This probably had to do with Bieber also giving up seven hits and not throwing a 1-2-3 inning in the entire game. Akil Badoo was seeing the ball well out of Bieber's hands and went 3-for-3 against the Guardians pitcher.
But hey, Bieber got the job done and that's really all you can ask for at the end of the day. Allowing traffic but pitching around it while not giving up a run is why he's the team's best pitcher.

The Guardians' offense is putting a lot of pressure on their pitchers with the amount of run support they're receiving as staff so far this season. Cleveland is going to need Bieber to continue to pitch like this if they want to stay in the AL Central race.
